While mission and vision statements provide essential direction
for any organization, from small businesses to large corporations,
they remain mere words on a sign without the right culture to
back them. Unfortunately, the church often struggles here. We
claim to love people yet frequently fail to cultivate the necessary
culture and habits that reflect this. For success, this effort must
begin from the top down.
Servant leaders don’t just build followers; they cultivate future
leaders. Jesus’s model with the twelve disciples powerfully illus-
trates that the greatest legacy of leadership is multiplication, not
maintenance. He walked alongside His disciples, demonstrating
how to prepare them for His eventual departure. Jesus actively
involved them in daily ministry, sending them out to preach and
heal. This active participation, fostered by intentional leadership,
is central to God’s desire for a relationship with each of us.
